Summer Lunch Program: PDF Print E-mail

Summer Lunch Program:

Northside will be participating in the Summer Lunch Program at the Central Intermediate School from July 5 through July 9.

This program is in place for those schoolchildren who ordinarily receive a free lunch during the school year; although this program is open to all children needing a nutritious meal. Oftentimes, this is the only full meal these children receive.

If you would like to participate in this heartwarming program, please contact Julia Cain at 330-335-0524 or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Volunteers are needed to provide and prepare food for the meals as well as service.

Food Assistance Ministry: “Christmas in July Food Drive” PDF Print E-mail

Food Assistance Ministry: “Christmas in July Food Drive”:

Thank you so very much to all those who supported our recent request for food donations. We received several deliveries of food as well as cash to fulfill our service to our families in need.

This ministry is new to Northside and we feel that a short note of the operation is in order.

The Food Assistance Ministry has joined the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank. By doing this, we are able to access their food supply to help stock our food pantry. Some items are free, others we need to pay for. The Food Bank is only one resource to meet our needs. The Food Assistance Ministry has committed to serve families year-round who are living in a hunger situation.

Since beginning this service just three months ago, the number of registered families has nearly doubled and sure to keep growing. Typical timing for food drives is during the holiday season where the spirit of giving is widespread.

In order for our ministry to restock our shelves for the next few months, we’d like to conduct a “Christmas in July Food Drive.”

Please bring your food or cash contribution to the Connection Center on Sunday, July 11 in order to help this mission.

Non-perishable items in greatest need are:

pasta and egg noodles; spaghetti sauce; canned tuna and chicken; beef stew; rice, potato, noodle side dishes; cereal; oatmeal; pancake mix & syrup; peanut butter and jelly; applesauce; canned fruits and vegetables; juice; Hamburger, Tuna, or Chicken Helper; cookies; crackers; baking mixes (muffin, cornbread, cakes, brownies).

Economic times continue to be very difficult for so many of our families. Please help us tend to this very basic need.

We CAN provide comfort through this vital ministry...with your help. If you need help with groceries, please let us know:

“Lend A Hand When You Can”

The Helping Hands Ministry of Northside has restructured its method of communicating service opportunities to the NCC congregation. We have found that the most efficient method of mass communication is through an email alert system.

For the next couple weeks we will be generating a database of email addresses of NCC members who wish to be informed of needs within the church and our surrounding community. No email? No problem! We’ll also be inserting notices in the Sunday bulletins when time permits.

We all have something to give. Time and talents are the biggest need. On occasion, we’ll ask for support for our benevolence drives. If we all give just a little we can make a big difference. Please provide your email address below (even if you’ve done so previously) and simply drop this form in the offering tray or stop by the Helping Hands sign up table.

Open Invitation: The Helping Hands Ministry meets every 3rd Sunday of the month in Room 108 at 8:30am.

Please join us sometime—definitely worth getting up early on a Sunday!
